King Nagarjuna returns to the Sankranti festivities with his latest release, “Naa Saami Ranga,” directed by debutant Vijay Binni. The film, a perfect blend of entertainment and festive celebration, aims to capture the Sankranti spirit.

Story:

In 1988, Kishtayya (Nagarjuna) lives with his brother Anji (Allari Naresh) and ex-girlfriend Varalakshmi “Varaalu” (Ashika Ranganath) in the village of Jaganna Thota. Kishtayya respects the village head Peddayya (Nassar) and regards him as a paternal figure. Dasu (Shabeer Kallarakkal), the son of the village head Peddayya, harasses Varaalu as she rejected his marriage proposal earlier. Anji beats Dasu in retribution, and Dasu vows to exact revenge. Kishtayya and Anji rescue Bhaskar (Raj Tarun) and his girlfriend Kumari (Rukshar Dhillon), and Bhaskar also forms a friendship with them. Dasu strikes back and eliminates one of the friends. Can Kishtayya strike back at Dasu despite the latter being Peddayya’s son forms the rest of the plot.

 

Analysis:

“Naa Saami Ranga” offers a conventional ’80s story, presented as a festive treat. Director Vijay Binni successfully portrays Nagarjuna in a vibrant character, balancing both class and mass elements. The film provides an engaging experience, combining entertainment, romance, and action.

 

Performances:

Nagarjuna shines in the role of Kishtayya, showcasing his versatility in mass and romantic sequences. Allari Naresh steals the show with exceptional performances, excelling in comedy, mass dialogues, and emotional moments. Raj Tarun and the ensemble cast contribute effectively to the film’s success.

 

Technicians:

M. M. Keeravani’s captivating soundtrack and background score elevate the film’s emotional impact. Dasari Sivendra’s cinematography beautifully captures the village setting and Sankranti festivities. Chota K Prasad’s editing, though generally proficient, could benefit from a few trims.

 

Verdict:

“Naa Saami Ranga” is a satisfactory festive watch, delivering on the promise of entertainment, music, and engaging performances. While the story is predictable, the film successfully captures the essence of Sankranti celebrations.
